Employees forced into freezer during armed robbery

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery that occurred around 2 p.m. Friday at the EZ Food Mart in Vero Beach.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing shorts, a camo hooded sweatshirt, and a mask.

“He brandished a firearm and threatened to kill the employees. He then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money,” a sheriff’s spokesperson said.

The area at EZ Mart is still an active scene. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution while in the area.
