On Sunday, the Sebastian Police Department received a call from Burger King located at 9100 Sebastian Blvd due to reports of a disturbance involving assault on restaurant employees.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., officers responded to the scene following reports that a man had thrown a beverage at employees before fleeing the establishment.

The first victim said a man entered the Burger King requesting free food. Her coworker, sympathetic to the man’s situation, offered to buy him a meal. When an extra Whopper became available, the staff suggested they give it to the man.

However, the man violently threw a medium Sprite at the staff. An employee informed the assailant that she would be calling the police, prompting him to flee out the side door.

The manager of the fast-food restaurant provided video evidence, clearly showing the man at the front register throwing the cup with sprite at the victims.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Manfred Lamour, was subsequently located and detained in front of the Sebastian River Middle School. Despite being read his Miranda rights, Lamour remained argumentative and uncooperative, denying the allegations against him and claiming the incident at Burger King was an accident.

Based on the statements from the victims, the visual evidence obtained from the restaurant’s surveillance system, and the observable effects of the assault, law enforcement found probable cause to charge Lamour with two counts of battery under FSS. 784.03(1A1).

He was transported to the Indian River County Jail without further incident, where his bond was set at $5,000.
