One day before their arraignment, Damien Gilliams and his son Damien Lee Fey Gilliams entered a plea of not guilty and will now demand a jury trial.

As a result, a new hearing will take place on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. The father and son face a charge of filing a false police report of an alleged crime.

According to the police report, the disgraced former City Councilman and his son accused Sebastian Vice Mayor Jim Hill of battery at the courthouse during the criminal trial of Damien Gilliams and Pamela Parris. Hill was there to testify in the case and denies the allegation.

Gilliams accuses Hill of intentionally running into his 28-year-old son outside a courtroom, the police report says.

However, investigators with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office told Sebastian Daily that video footage obtained from the courthouse shows no alleged incident involving Hill and the Gilliams family.

As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for Gilliams and his son on June 25, 2021. They turned themselves in at the county jail for booking the same day.

Damien and his son, who own and operate the No Name Bar in Sebastian, are represented by Vero Beach attorney Bobby Guttridge.
