On Friday morning, an arrest warrant was issued for Damien Gilliams and his son, Damien Lee Fey Gilliams, after allegedly filing a false police report about Sebastian Vice-Mayor Jim Hill.

“The Sheriff’s Office is not going to stand for false allegations. The video evidence was clear and showed the allegations were not true. There are consequences for making a false report,” Lieutenant Pat White, Criminal Investigations for Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, told Sebastian Daily.

The father and son, who own and run the No Name Bar in Sebastian, went to the Indian River County Jail to turn themselves in after the arrest warrant was issued. They are both charged with False Report of Crime.

The two allege that Hill purposely bumped into the son using his shoulder and said something derogatory in front of the family and Gilliams’ lawyer.

Investigators reviewed video surveillance from the courthouse, which they said showed no altercation between Hill or the Gilliams family.

The case was initially investigated by the Vero Beach Police Department, which then was given to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, as they handle the Indian River County Courthouse.
