On Thursday, the Sebastian Police Department responded to the 100 block of Paddock Street Sebastian, Florida, for a welfare check on their elderly neighbor, Marie Hoskins.

The neighbors were concerned after Mrs. Hoskins was not seen for an extended period of time. Officers made multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone at the residence and were unable to obtain any information on the whereabouts of Mrs. Hoskins.

Due to the growing concern for her well-being, officers were able to obtain a key to the home and made entry.

“Once inside, officers made contact with a suspect, who initially said she hadn’t seen her either. As officers checked the rest of the home in an attempt to locate Mrs. Hoskins, a deceased body was located inside a freezer in the garage. The suspect was transported to the Police Department for questioning as Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence,” Captain Timothy Wood said.

During the early morning hours of April 29, 2022, detectives executed a search warrant on the residence, recovering the body of 93-year-old, Marie Hoskins and other evidence.

Detectives are actively working with the Medical Examiner and the State Attorney’s Office on this case as it is still active at this time.

Any further information will release as the investigation continues.
