VERO BEACH – On Monday, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to the School Resource Team to conduct an alcohol compliance check at local Vero Beach businesses.

The Shell gas station, Citco store, and the Cumberland Farms store sold alcohol to an underage minor.

The operation targeted the underage sale of alcohol to minors in Vero Beach.

At approximately 1:38 p.m., the store clerk at the Shell Gas Station on 9520 20th Street sold a Twisted Tea alcoholic beverage to an underage minor.

The clerk was given a Notice to Appear and advised of her court date.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., the operation then moved to the Citco store located at 4105 U.S. Highway 1 where an 18-year-old purchased a bottle of Mike’s Harder Strawberry Lemonade.

The store clerk was cooperative and stated she did not card the individual because they looked old enough. She was served with a Notice to Appear with a court date.

The final stop during the operation was the Cumberland Farms store located at 4490 U.S. Highway 1 in Vero Beach at approximately 2:25 p.m.

The store clerk sold a large 24oz Twisted Ice Tea to the minor. The clerk was given a Notice to Appear with a court date.
