Step Up America Begins Veterans Appreciation Project

SEBASTIAN – Step Up America has started a veterans appreciate project which involves the creation of lawn signs that will be placed at veteran residences in Indian River County.

They had an amazing group of student volunteers that built the first round of signs. The students are part of the National Junior Honor Society at Storm Grove Middle School in Vero Beach, FL.

The kids wanted to partake in something that is meant to recognize the veterans.

Step Up America had another building session with volunteers at the American Legion Post 39 in Vero Beach, FL.

Step Up America is an educational program that reinforces the importance of citizenship with current and future generations. It is a multifaceted Educational Program that includes: Online Curriculum, In-Person Classroom Presentations, Essay Contests, Citizenship Awards, Summer Student Ambassador Training Camps and Leadership Training.

“The mission of Step Up America: A Call to Good Citizenship is to educate our youth on the importance of becoming responsible, engaged U.S. Citizens in order to preserve the freedom and security of our nation,” the program’s website says.
