Residents can sign a petition to recall Damien Gilliams, Charles Mauti, and Pamela Parris.

Residents can sign a petition to recall Damien Gilliams, Charles Mauti, and Pamela Parris.

Starting Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Sebastian residents will be able to sign a petition to remove council members Damien Gilliams, Charles Mauti, and Pamela Parris from public office.

The petition will be available to sign at Riverview Park, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

“We will keep those hours through the weekend and will announce different areas as we get them set up. There will be about six tables set up all day, and all three petitions will be available for signing. Please bring your voter registration card and identification,” Tracey Cole, founder of the PAC recall group, told Sebastian Daily.

Initially, only Gilliams and Parris were listed on the recall. However, the recall group added Mauti to the petition after he participated in the illegal April 22 meeting, where the three fired city staff and appointed Gilliams as mayor.

The three council members are being sued for allegedly breaking Sunshine Laws, and they are under a criminal investigation by the State Attorney’s Office.

At a recent City Council meeting, Gilliams said he is a duly elected official and would not recognize the petition to recall.
