Sebastian Police Department K9’s Receive Body Armor Donations

Sebastian Police K9 Oldie

The Sebastian Police Department will receive three bullet and stab protective vests for their K9’s: Ghost, Odie, and Suma. In 8 – 10 weeks, they will receive the protective equipment through the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s.

K9 Ghost, born in Hungary, is a 3.5-year-old German Shepherd. He has been working for the City of Sebastian since mid-2018. Ghost is trained as a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics detection K9.

K9 Odie, born in the Czech Republic, is an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois. He has been working with the Sebastian Police Department for the last 6.5 years. Odie is a dual-purpose K9 being certified in patrol and narcotics detection.

K9 Suma, has been actively working with the Sebastian PD for 2.5 years. This FDLE certified dual-purpose patrol K-9 is a German Shepherd.

Vested Interest in K9s Inc.

The mission of Vested Interest in K9s Inc. is to provide stab and bullet protective vests along with other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the country. They are a 501c(3) non-profit. Since 2009 they have provided more than 3,970 vests to K9s in the U.S. at a value of $6.9 million.
