Sebastian man needs help from the community after his truck caught fire on New Year’s Day

Alex Lucia, 18, watched in horror as his truck caught on fire.

A young man in Sebastian is asking people to help donate funds to replace his truck that caught fire on New Year’s Day at Dunkin’ Donuts on U.S. Highway 1 and Cleveland Street.

Sebastian Daily reviews GoFundMe requests on a case-by-case basis. We don’t usually promote GoFundMe requests, but we verified this situation, and he’s asking for help.

Alex Lucia, 18, of Sebastian, was driving his truck when it suddenly caught on fire. He watched in horror as it went up in flames in seconds. The fire was caused by the electrical system.

Lucia worked hard for three years to buy the used truck, which is essential for his job in plumbing. Unfortunately, he did not have full coverage on the vehicle and is trying to find another truck for his employment.

“It’s just to help with the tragic situation,” Lucia said.

He needs to raise $6,000, and his GoFundMe shows a total of $1,680 so far from 11 donations. Maybe we as a community can help this young man recover from his loss.

Update

We’re happy to report that Lucia has received enough donations to buy another truck. He needed $6,000 and received $6,745.
