Sebastian Christmas Parade Brings Families Out to See Santa

Sebastian Christmas Parade

The Sebastian Christmas Parade was a success on Friday as residents gathered along Indian River Drive between Main Street and Riverview Park.

Sebastian knows how to come together safely, whether it’s for Celebrate Sebastian, Lights Up Night, or the Christmas Parade. Most families did practice social distancing from other families, and some wore masks when social distancing was not possible.

The colder temperature of 66 degrees also added to the season as some children drank hot cocoa while watching the parade.

The event was made possible after Vice Mayor Jim Hill pushed for the Christmas Parade after receiving numerous emails and phone calls from Sebastian citizens.

The parade was more significant than expected after several local businesses decided to join last week. Some businesses included Pareidolia Brewing Company, Sebastian Watercraft Rentals, Sandbar Sunday Outfitters, and many more.

Also present were the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard, the Sebastian River High School Band, Riverside Church, Sebastian Elks, Salvation Army, Sebastian Karate, and several charities.

Santa Claus was also in the parade, greeting children and handing out goodies. Santa’s House at Riverview Park was canceled over COVID-19 concerns.

Live coverage of the parade was made possible by the City of Sebastian, which was also shared on the Sebastian Daily Facebook page

Here are a few photos from last night’s parade.
