Indian River County Participating in ‘Operation Green Light’

Operation Green Light

Operation Green Light

Indian River County is participating in Operation Green Light, a new initiative between Indian River County, the Florida State Association of Counties, the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers, and the National Association of Counties.

The mission of Operation Green Light is to show support for veterans, raise awareness about the challenges they and their families face, and help them find the resources available to them at the county, state, and federal levels.

“By shining the green light, we’re expressing our profound gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions our veterans and their families made on the battlefield, at home,” said Indian River County Asst. County Administrator Michael Zito.

“At a time when our country is faced with so many issues, we can all agree that those individuals who risked, and sacrificed their lives fighting to protect our country and our way of life deserve our support. I encourage everyone to join with us in displaying a green light for our veterans and their families, Zito added.”

Indian River County residents who would like to participate should change a light bulb in/outside their house to a green bulb to let our veterans know that we see their sacrifices and appreciate and support them.

Operation Green Light is November 7th -13th for Veterans Day; however, participants are encouraged to keep the green light up all year round.
