Three artists will be featured by the Environmental Learning Center at its Nature Inspired Artist Series in February. The artists are Iris Peters, Gustof Miller, and Janvier Miller.

Iris Peters moved to Florida from Baltimore and is inspired by the colors of the birds, flowers, and ocean here. Her medium is acrylics, and she has recently developed a love for abstract pour art.

Peters is incorporating sea life in her newer work. Her work is featured in the ELC’s Barrows Welcome Center Tidal Gallery.

The Lagoon Room will feature sculptures and paintings from Gustaf Miller and paintings by Janvier Miller.

Miller grew up in New York and is the son of accomplished watercolor artist Howard Miller. After receiving his BFA and MFA from Syracuse University, he studied in Rome, Italy.

His sculptures and paintings are based on the battered and marked surfaces of a city. Miller’s body of work is abstract and representational.

Janvier Miller is also a Syracuse graduate and has selected nature-focused paintings for this show. Her subjects include birds, horses, and beach scenes.

The next show is ELC’s Spring Fling, and the deadline to apply for that show is Friday, February 17, 2023, at 5:00 PM. The application details are on DiscoverELC on the Artist Series page.

The ELC is committed to displaying artwork from a wide diversity of artists and artwork mediums that align with its mission.
