It’s not the first time people have reported seeing an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) in or around Sebastian, Florida. Some of the sightings in the past were debunked as a camera lens flare, an airplane, or a drone.
The latest UFO sighting occurred when a man in Cocoa observed a fast-moving light on Oct. 18, 2019, at approximately 7:30 a.m. as it slowed down and accelerated towards Sebastian. All witnesses say there was no sound.
“Neighbor alerted witness to the object. As he turned to view it, he caught it as it slowed down radically. It remained moving south in a straight path for 2 to 3 seconds then burst forth at a great leap in speed,” according to the witness.
The same sighting, which was reported to multiple UFO databases, was also seen on the same morning by residents living on the water in Roseland and Sebastian as it traveled south along the river.
One person described it as an object surrounded by multiple lights. Another witness said the object was inside a “low cloud” as it hovered above the water before “shooting straight up” into the sky.
“Yellowish multiple lights, 5 to 7 in number in a crescent shape. Crazy fast movement and acceleration. No sound at all,” the witness said.
Aliens are the first thing people think of when hearing about a UFO. However, these objects and lights don’t always mean that an alien traveled from another distant planet to visit Cocoa and Sebastian.
“Unidentified flying object is the popular term for any aerial phenomenon that cannot immediately be identified. Most UFOs are identified on investigation as conventional objects or phenomena. The term is widely used for claimed observations of extraterrestrial spacecraft,” according to Wikipedia.
Last June, a UFO was seen in Grant-Valkaria, Florida, after a large cube-shaped object was seen rotating at a high rate of speed for approximately four minutes in the sky. The witness said the object resembled a very large Mylar solar sail.
Last year, on Dec. 26, 2018, a man and his son saw a UFO near Orchid Island.
“Short bursts of light or illuminated exhaust followed it in a regular on/off pattern. No debris was seen, as might be expected from space junk re-entering the atmosphere,” Arthur M. Doweyko PhD told Sebastian Daily.
Some conspiracy theorists believe the area in and around Sebastian is a “hotbed” for sightings, and say most of them go unreported.
