Publix will now require its customers to use face coverings over their noses and mouths as of Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

The decision comes after Walmart said it will require face masks in all of their stores.

The Center for Disease Control announced a face mask mandate for most individuals. They also recommend that shoppers keep their distance to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The three Publix stores in Sebastian have taken extra measures to ensure that their customers maintain social distancing with other customers and store associates.

Back in April, they added directional markings to our aisles to help their customers with social distancing.

“To help with customer traffic flow, we have added directional markings, companywide, to our aisles. This will allow customers and associates to better distance themselves while on the aisles,” a statement from Publix said.

Additionally, they have added plexiglass shields at all cash registers, supply personal protective equipment (PPE) for their employees, and clean the grocery carts and shopping baskets to help stop the spread of the virus.
