The Old Fish House Bar & Grill and The Chubby Mullet Bar & Grill have adopted a “Livable Wage Policy” to ensure their staff makes enough income to live a satisfactory standard of living and prevents them from falling into poverty.

The Old Fish House will be adding a 15% service charge to your bill in order to adopt their new Livable Wage Policy.
“We’ve adopted a ‘Livable Wage Policy’ and are paying our wait staff an hourly wage that is in-line with our higher paid non-tipped Fish House Family members. A 15% service charge will be added to your check. Any amount generously paid over the 15% will be distributed equally among the entire Old Fish House staff,” stated The Old Fish House Management.
The Chubby Mullet
“The Chubby Mullet has adopted a ‘Livable Wage Policy’ and are paying our wait staff an hourly wage that is in-line with our higher paid non-tipped Chubby Mullet team members,” According to the Chubby Mullet management.
“A 17% service charge will be added to your check. Any amount generously paid over the 17%, will be distributed equally among the entire Chubby Mullet staff,” the restaurant says.
While having lunch at Chubby Mullet, I spoke to one of their waitresses to find out what she thought of this new policy.
“I didn’t think I would like it at first, but it actually works out well, because of the times that we are slow. And most of our regulars tip of 17%, so the additional money gets divided up between everyone,” the waitress told Sebastian Daily.
It will be interesting to see how many other restaurants around Sebastian will adopt the “Livable Wage Policy” to keep their employees from falling into poverty.
