All requests for Vote By Mail Ballots in Florida expired on December 31, 2022. So, to cast a Vote By Mail ballot for the upcoming 2023-2024 elections, voters must submit a fresh request for a new vote by mail ballot.

“Due to legislation that was passed in 2021 in Senate Bill 90, voters are now required to renew their vote by mail ballot request on a more frequent bases. All mail ballots in the state of Florida, the request expired on December 31st of 2022”, said Leslie Swan, Indian River County Supervisor of Elections.

“All request for a mail ballot has historically been valid for two general election cycles, which is four years. Now a voter has to request their mail ballet every general election cycle,” according to Swan.

If you put a request in now, it will be good through 2024. The last opportunity to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot to be sent to your address is before 5:00 pm on the twelfth day preceding the election. Additionally, kindly ensure that your mailing address is up to date, as the U.S. Post Office cannot forward Vote-by-Mail ballots.

Domestic mail ballots must reach the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections office no later than 7:00 pm on Election Day to ensure their inclusion in the final count. These ballots can be either sent by mail or personally delivered to a Secure Ballot Drop Box. 

The drop boxes are conveniently located at the Indian River County Election office and each open early voting location and are accessible during early voting hours.
