SEBASTIAN – The gas prices in Florida have jumped 25 cents in 10 days, bringing it to $2.49 in Sebastian.
Today’s Florida average is $2.47, the National Average is $2.43, according to AAA.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the most expensive place to buy gas in Sebastian is the Mobil station at the corner of CR-512 and U.S. Highway 1. They are selling gas for $2.49.
Here are some other prices we found Tuesday evening in Sebastian:
- $2.46 – Walmart (Murphy USA) at 1999 U.S. Highway 1
- $2.46 – Cumberland Farms in Micco at 8090 U.S. Highway 1
- $2.47 – Cumberland Farms at 957 CR-512 (Sebastian Blvd)
- $2.47 – Speedway at 700 U.S. Highway 1
The cheapest gas in Vero Beach is $2.39 (cash only) at Chevron located at 2602 U.S. Highway 1. Shell is also selling gas at the pump for $2.45 a gallon at 1600 14th Avenue.
However, if you want to save money, head up to Palm Bay where gas is about $2.32 at RaceTrac, Wawa, Circle K, 7-Eleven, and Walmart (Murphy USA).
Once again, Sebastian motorists are stuck paying the highest price for gas between Vero Beach and Palm Bay.
Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA and the Auto Club Group, said gas prices in Florida are expected to go higher, but not exceed $2.75 a gallon.
“Florida motorists will be happy to get a break from rising prices, but that springtime bounce is far from finished,” Jenkins said. “Normal spring factors like rising demand, refinery maintenance, and the introduction of summer-blend gasoline should keep upward pressure on pump prices for the next couple of months. Gas prices generally reach their annual peak by Memorial Day, unless a hurricane or refinery outage threatens supplies. AAA forecasts prices will peak at around $2.75 before summer.”
