The price for trash collection in Sebastian could double or even triple from Waste Management, depending on what proposal the city council approves. The current rate for pickup in Sebastian is $15 per month.
Recently, the trash pickup services for the City of Sebastian went out to bid. Unfortunately, the only bid received was from Waste Management, providing various options with different fees.
The proposal from the bid has several service options, and City Manager Paul Carlisle is scheduling a public workshop with Waste Management to inform residents.
The dates and times for these workshops are:
- March 6, 2023 – 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
- March 6, 2023 – 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The workshop will be in the city council chambers at City Hall in Sebastian.
The costs for trash pickup services will be anywhere from $19 to $42 per month, depending on the service.
For example, if the city keeps the current trash pickup services at twice per week at $15 per month, it will increase to $42. Or it could be $27 per month with just a weekly service.
Last summer, Waste Management increased fees by 15 percent, citing higher company-wide costs due to inflation.
