VERO BEACH, Florida – A 40-year-old woman was arrested in Vero Beach after customers called the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to report someone sniffing a can of ‘Dust-Off’ from her purse.

Michelle Larue Stephens was seen outside the grocery entrance of the Vero Beach Walmart screaming, crying, and acting erratic, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Several customers flagged down a loss preventions officer after observing Stephens.

The officer “observed the white female huffing a can of dust-off,” the report said.

Stephens was seen placing the dust-off can inside her purse and then “continued to stick her head inside her purse for continual use,” the report said.

Deputies made contact with Stephens, who was unable to answer any questions or make eye contact.

Stephens was seated on the side of the building and continued to fall to the side while pivoting her head all around, according to the deputy.

After a few minutes, Stephens was finally coherent to talk with the deputy.

She admitted to drinking three beers approximately 1 hour before the Vero Beach incident.

No word on the can of dust-off.

Stephens was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where she was charged with Disorderly Intoxication.

Last month, a 35-year-old man was arrested after sniffing nine cans of Dust-Off cleaner at the same Walmart in Vero Beach.
