VERO BEACH, Florida – Police say a 31-year-old woman was found unconscious in the bathroom of a hospital after injecting herself with heroin following an argument with her boyfriend, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a call from 1000 36th Street in Vero Beach after the woman, identified as Nicole M. White, was found unresponsive in one of the rooms at Indian River Medical Center.
The room was occupied by White’s boyfriend who was being treated for the past four days for an unknown medical issue.
White was found unresponsive with a syringe lying next to her, according to the report.
“Upon making contact with White, she openly admitted to ‘shooting up heroin’ in the bathroom,” the deputy said.
White also told the deputy that she was in a fight with her boyfriend and wanted to “clear” her mind.
The boyfriend said White was staying with him in the hospital when he woke up and didn’t see her anywhere in the room. He then heard music coming from the bathroom.
When the boyfriend walked over to “check it out,” he found White slumped over unconscious and tried splashing water on her “as well as ‘popping’ her on the cheek to wake her up,” the report said.
Deputies found a small baggie in White’s purse that tested positive for Heroin and Fentanyl.
White was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Drug Paraphernalia.
White’s bond was set at $8,500.
