VERO BEACH, Florida – An 80-year-old Vero Beach woman who was arrested last Monday after screaming obscenities and vulgar names to several neighbors at Grove Isle is back behind bars again, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Sondra Pollack was arrested Thursday at approximately 3:50 p.m. at Grove Isle in Vero Beach on a warrant charging her with Cyberstalking, Harassing Phone Calls, and Disorderly Conduct.
As previously reported, Pollack was arrested Monday on charges of Disorderly Conduct after screaming obscenities to her neighbors in Vero Beach.
After we published the first report, several people and her neighbors say Pollack needs help, not jail.
“She is not a criminal! She obviously is someone in need of assistance and doesn’t have loved ones who check in on her,” Stephanie Hurst said. “80’s … any number of medical issues could have been the culprit of such a display of behavior. Another example of IRC criminalizing mental health issues. It’s inhumane.”
Several people who either live by Pollack or have relatives nearby say the behavior has been going on for a long time.
“I have family that lives near her and she has threatened more than once with a gun and people have called the police many times before. She needs help and sadly not everyone has family to help. Grove Isle is a nice place, just wish they, or the police, would have helped sooner,” said Alex Harding.
On Friday, a judge revoked Pollack’s bond and a court date has been scheduled for January 2, 2018. At this point, she may be spending Christmas and New Year’s in jail.
DISCLAIMER: Arrests and mugshots were made public by complaint affidavits, arrest affidavits, and police reports. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty.
