VERO BEACH, Florida – The Vero Beach Police Department responded to a call about an individual who appeared to be passed out behind the wheel of a running blue SUV.

Mia Renee Rayburn, 36, was found slumped over the wheel in the vehicle. The SUV was located near the north side of the parking lot.

Officers said Rayburn’s “breathing appeared to be labored and she was sweating profusely,” according to the report. Police also noticed what appeared to be saliva on the corner of her mouth.

Fearing that she was in distress, the Vero Beach officer opened the driver’s door, turned the vehicle off, and attempted to wake Rayburn.

“After several attempts, the female woke. I asked if she was ‘ok’ which she stated yes,” the report said.

Rayburn told police that she was having allergy issues and needed to rest. She slowly gained her composure and appeared to be more alert.

Officers then saw an open box of pills and marijuana in a box that was in plain view sitting on the front seat. Rayburn tried to grab the box as one of the officers was trying to remove it.

Rayburn denied ownership of the box. She told police that “someone must have placed them there.” She thinks someone was setting her up, even though they were placed next to a sandwich she was eating.

Also in the vehicle was a Suboxone film 8mg strip, which she stated belonged to her boyfriend. Officers also found a small baggie that tested positive for cocaine.

Rayburn was in possession of the following narcotics:

  • Xanax (bars)
  • Oxycodone
  • Methocarbamol
  • Tramadol (4)
  • Suboxone
  • Cocaine
  • Marijuana

There was also a scale found that’s used for measuring the drugs. Next to the scale were various small green baggies, commonly used in packaging drugs for sale.

Rayburn was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail.

She faces the following charges:

  • Felony Possession Cocaine
  • Felony Possession Controlled Substance
  • Sale Manufacture Delivery of Cocaine
  • Felony Possession Controlled Substance
  • Poss Oxycodone
  • Felony Possession Controlled Substance
