VERO BEACH, Florida – A 37-year-old man was arrested at the Uncle Dom’s Bar in Vero Beach after he smashed a woman’s face into a jukebox, according to the Vero Beach Police Department.

Raymond Edward Arens was charged with Felony Aggravated Battery. The incident occurred on Dec. 17, 2017 at Approximately 10:00 p.m.

A warrant was issued for Arens’ arrest on Jan. 9, 2017. He was then taken into custody last night for aggravated battery with a bond of $10,000.

Officers arrived at Uncle Dom’s at 1436 Old Dixie Highway the night of the incident.

“When officers arrived they made contact with a female victim that was bleeding from the face,” Police Chief David E. Currey told Sebastian Daily.

“The victim stated that while she was at the jukebox in the bar an unknown male grabbed the back of her hair, and smashed her face into the screen of the jukebox causing injury to her face,” said Currey.

The female victim was transported by EMS to Indian River Medical Center where she required 23 stitches.

A witness told Sebastian Daily that he witnessed a horrible act of violence while inside the bar.

“What he did was sick and horrible, random act of violence on a woman he didn’t know,” the witness stated.

“I was there that night and [saw] the skin hanging off this poor woman’s face. I won’t be surprised if she needs reconstructive surgery,” the witness added.

During the investigation, witnesses identified Raymond Edward Arens as the male involved in the altercation with the victim.
