VERO BEACH, Florida – A 21-year-old man was arrested after he threatened to shoot a group of individuals who were having a food fight at a Vero Beach McDonald’s restaurant.
Christopher Sherman told officers with the Vero Beach Police Department that he was in McDonald’s eating “when a group of individuals started throwing food around the establishment,” according to the report.
Sherman says he told the group to “pick that fu***** sh** up.”
Witnesses told police that Sherman started a verbal argument with the group, threatening to fight them, and “saying he was going to get a gun out of his car trunk” to “shoot them,” the report said. The witnesses stated he pushed people out of the way.
Sherman then exited the McDonald’s, entered the trunk of his car and grabbed a small wooden club. He then took off his shirt and was “ready to fight.”
Another witness told the Vero Beach officers that Sherman threatened to “shoot her in the fu***** head.”
As officers were speaking with Sherman, they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his person. He stated that he consumed two jack and cokes, went to eat at McDonald’s, and “his ego got in the way.”
Sherman said he grabbed the club to protect himself.
Based on witness information, police determined Sherman was intoxicated and causing a public disturbance at the Vero Beach restaurant.
Sherman was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with disorderly intoxication.
