VERO BEACH, Florida – The Vero Beach Police Department responded to a retail theft at CVS after a man walked out without paying for beer.

Police met with the store manager who said a “white male wearing plaid pants walked past all points of sale without paying for a four-pack of Natural Ice Beer priced at $3.99,” according to the report.

James Middens, 38, was identified after police located a suspect matching his description about a block from the Vero Beach CVS.

Giddens told police that he planned on leaving without paying for the beer. But if he got caught, he “would beg for mercy.”

Giddens was arrested on a charge of Misdemeanor Shoplifting/Retail Theft with a $500 bond. He has since been released.
