VERO BEACH, Florida – The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County announced that 18 dogs recently rescued from dire circumstances in Puerto Rico will be available for adoption this Friday, September 1.

Known as “satos,” these street dogs once left for dead were rescued by local animal advocates in Puerto Rico, flown to Florida by the Humane Society of the U.S., taken in and cared for in Vero Beach and are now set to find new homes throughout Indian River County.

With adorable names like Picasso, Jally, Jolly, Atleta and Diego, and super sweet furry faces, this crew of cuties is sure to make the hearts of prospective adopters melt.

The dogs are small to medium in size and range in age from three months to nine years. All of the dogs have been spayed or neutered, dewormed, microchipped and have received age-appropriate vaccinations.
