SEBASTIAN, Florida – A 42-year-old man who told police he works as a computer technician was charged Monday with DUI and Felony Corruption by Threat to a Sebastian Police officer.

On Tuesday at approximately 12:13 p.m., a Sebastian Police officer observed a silver 4-Door sedan traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 1 at a high rate of speed.

The officer caught up to the vehicle and noticed that it failed to maintain a single lane. The vehicle then made a wide right turn onto Barber Street, causing the car to go into the wrong lane.

After initiating a traffic stop, Michael Thomas Jett spoke in a very slurred speech while talking to the officer, according to the report.

“While speaking with the defendant, his speak was very slurred and [I] observed the defendant’s eyes to be very glossy and red in color. I could also smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage,” the officer stated.

The officer also noticed a clear cup containing alcohol in the center console of the vehicle. When asked, Jett stated it was not his, but that a “girl had left it in his car,” the report said.

After failing a roadside sobriety test, Jett was placed under arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with DUI.

While at the jail, Jett told a deputy “If I ever see that guy that arrested me again, I’m going to whoop his fu**ing ass.”

Jett then told another deputy at the jail, “If I ever find that officer who arrested me, I’m going to kill that mother fu**er.”

A deputy explained to Jett that it is criminal to threaten a law enforcement officer, but Jett advised he didn’t care.

A charged of Felony Corruption by Threat was added at the time of booking.
