MELBOURNE, Florida – A Brevard County woman was dragged by her car by a thief who tried to steal it at a gas station in Melbourne.

Brandy Johnson, 30, parked her car at the Chevron gas station located at the intersection of Babcock Street and Brevard Avenue.

Johnson left her car to go inside the Food Mart but noticed a man getting into her vehicle while she was waiting in line. She ran out of the store and tried to stop the thief. Several bystanders also tried to assist.

However, the man put the car in reverse while Johnson’s arms were in the open window. The thief then put the car in drive and sped off, dragging Johnson through the parking lot. Johnson fell to the ground as the man drove off.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call CRINOLINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) or the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-MPD1 (6731).
