PALM BAY, Florida – An 8-year-old boy who ran into the road was struck by a car in Palm Bay and later died at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Officers responded to a call involving a vehicle crash with a minor child at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

Police say, Wyatt Taylor, 8, reportedly ran into the road and was struck by the vehicle when the driver, 16, was traveling southbound on Rivera Drive.

First responders rendered medical aid before the boy was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Traffic Homicide Investigators do not think criminal charges will be filed in this case.

“The 16-year-old driver is licensed and was traveling legally down the street with a parent in the front seat,” explained Traffic Homicide Investigator Jeff Reardon.
