PINE HILLS, Florida – The Orlando Police Department says a female police officer was shot multiple times Monday morning outside a Walmart store. A massive manhunt is underway for the suspect, identified as Markeith Loyd, 41.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is also wanted in connection with the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, who was pregnant.

The Orlando Police officer had been shopping in Walmart and was putting bags into the trunk of her vehicle when another shopper approached her.

The Walmart customer walked up to her and said that a wanted suspect was currently in the check out line. The officer saw the suspect leave the store. He shot 12 gunshots at her.

The gunman remained at large and is considered armed and extremely dangerous, OPD said.
