Florida investigators say a 4-year-old girl in Palm Beach County died after shooting herself with a gun. Police say the child found the fully-loaded weapon under a bed in her home.

Investigators say the gun discharged while Amirra Jacques was playing with it Sunday night. A 16-year-old and the girl’s uncle were arrested on Monday morning.

Police say the teenager hid the firearm and is charged with culpable negligence, tampering with evidence, perjury and grand theft of a firearm. The uncle, Nathaniel Lowe, is charged with culpable negligence, tampering with evidence, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm as a felon.

Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Ann Brown said that several family members, including the child’s mother, were inside the apartment Sunday evening when the shooting occurred.
