FORT MYERS, Florida – A 30-year-old Cocoa Beach man is behind bars after he ran around in his underwear at a La Quinta hotel in Fort Myers and pulled the fire alarm.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office made contact with the hotel owner who said Lay was screaming and waking everyone up on the second floor.

He then pulled the fire alarm, waking up the whole building.

Hotel guests had to evacuate the building because they thought there was a fire.

Lay told deputies he pulled the fire alarm because he didn’t like the hotel owner’s sexual orientation, stating that was the motivation behind his bizarre actions.
