MERRITT ISLAND, Florida – A man known in Brevard County as the “Pizza Bandit” has been arrested after robbing delivery drivers at knifepoint for the past two days in Merritt Island.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office say they received a call from an apartment complex near Skylark Avenue in Merrit Island from a pizza delivery driver reporting a robbery.

The driver told police that while walking the pizza to the complex, a man jumped out at him carrying a knife, taking all money from his pockets before fleeing the scene.

Then, deputies received another call the next day in the same area from another pizza delivery driver who said a man held him at knifepoint and stole his wallet, money, and cellphone.

David Poindexter, 27, was identified as the armed robber by a witness. Poindexter was living at a nearby residence.

Investigators searched his home and found the pizza driver’s wallet and cellphone. Clothing that matched the robbery suspect and the knife were found at Poindexter’s residence.

Poindexter admitted to both robberies, deputies said.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey warned other potential delivery driver bandits.

“If you rob the pizza delivery driver in Brevard County, you’re going to get delivered to the Brevard County Jail,” the sheriff said.
