Bomb Squads Inspecting Suspicious Package At West Melbourne PD

WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – Bomb squads inspected a suspicious package that was left at the West Melbourne Police Department on Monday.

The package was found at approximately 7:30 a.m. Businesses around the building were evacuated.

The building near the police department was closed and employees had been evacuated. Minton Road was shut down for about 1 hour.

Traffic was diverted onto Henry Avenue and Helen Avenue.

Investigators from Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deployed a robot to examine the package.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Melbourne Police reported the area is “all clear” after inspecting the package.
