SEBASTIAN – There are plenty of things to do in Sebastian, Florida. The town sits on the Indian River lagoon between Melbourne and Vero Beach, and that brings a lot of fishermen to the Sebastian River area.
The city has Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum, located at 1322 U.S. Highway 1 in Sebastian. It contains a lot of the items found by Mel Fisher when he started treasure hunting in Vero Beach. He spent seven years salvaging the 1715 fleet, a sunken vessel loaded with valuable treasures.
If you’re into nature, another great stop is the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a United States National Wildlife Refuge located off Orchid Island in the Indian River Lagoon. Sebastian is also known for its skydiving. There’s a place called Skydive Sebastian that offers a tandem jump over the Florida coastline and a tandem to the beach. Skydiving is available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and extended hours on Saturday and Sunday. It is located at 400 Airport Drive West, Sebastian. Contact (772) 388-5672.
If you enjoy the outdoors, then try the Sebastian Inlet Parasailing. It’s located at 1660 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, FL 32958. People love the parasailing adventure.
If you’re into fishing, then you must try the North Jetty at the Sebastian Inlet State Park. It’s the premier saltwater fishing spot on Florida’s east coast. It’s a favorite for fishermen who want to catch snook, redfish, bluefish and Spanish mackerel. Surfing is also a popular recreation at the park. There are two museums at the location that provide a lot of history about the area.
The Sebastian nightlife offers a wide range of clubs and bars on U.S.-1 and Indian River Drive. There are plenty of options to choose from, depending on what you want to do.
People who love craft beer visit the Pareidolia Brewing Company. It’s the first and only nano-brewery specializing in hand crafted small-batch ales. They are located at 482 U.S. Why 1 at River Park Plaza.
Other locals include the Tiki Bar & Grill (1130 Indian River Dr.), Earl’s Hideaway (1405 Indian River Dr.), and Captain Hiram’s Sandbar (1606 Indian River Dr.). These three establishments offer live entertainment. They all serve food.
