VERO BEACH – A woman who caused a disturbance at several businesses told deputies that she hid a syringe in her vaginal cavity, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies received a call from V Twin Concepts in Vero Beach about a woman yelling at customers. The woman was later identified as Melissa Marie Redman.

“Redman was yelling at customers at the business asking for money and disrupting the business during business hours and causing a scene,” the deputy said.

Minutes later, Mazzarella’s Auto Service and American Blinds & Shutters called stating Redman was causing a disturbance at their locations, according to the affidavit.

“Redman was yelling at employees at American Blinds & Shutters and stating she was not a porn star,” the deputy said.

Deputies arrived at the location and detained Redman. When asked if she had any contraband on her person or in her belongings, Redman stated she had a syringe in her vaginal cavity but removed it and placed it in her bra, according to the report.

The syringe had a substance still in it. Redman was already out on bond for possession of methamphetamine.

Redman was transported to the Indian River County Jail where she is still being held without bond.
