VERO BEACH – A JCPenney employee was leaving work and found one of her tires missing in the Indian River Mall parking lot, according to law enforcement.

Beverly Rollins contacted the Indian River Sheriff’s Office after she found her vehicle on a jack, with the front driver’s wheel missing.

“I observed Rollins’ vehicle lifted up on a scissor jack, with the driver-side front wheel missing, and a worn out donut spare tire in its place,” the deputy said.

The deputy believes the suspect(s) were using the spare donut to draw less attention to themselves while stealing the victim’s wheel.

Unfortunately, there are no security cameras present in the parking lot of JCPenney.

A deputy did collect five possible latent fingerprints, which were submitted into evidence.

The wheel and tire have a total value of $700.00.

The case is still active pending the examination of the latent fingerprints.
