VERO BEACH – A 20-year-old woman was arrested by the Vero Beach Police Department after she was caught smashing a car window on video surveillance at the Howard Johnson’s.
Officers arrived at the hotel in reference to the vandalism complaint. They made contact with the victim who said someone shattered the back window of his Ford Excursion.
Security footage showed a white female with dark hair with a tattoo on her right calf walk up to the vehicle. Once the female was behind the vehicle, the rear window shattered.
At first, officers didn’t have any leads on who the woman was until a witness spotted her walking across the parking lot.
Brandi Lynn Coburn, who works as a waitress, matched all the physical characteristics, including the tattoo seen on the security video.
Vero Beach police made contact with Coburn who was renting a room at the Howard Johnson’s hotel. She denied breaking any window.
Coburn said she walked past the vehicle on her way to do laundry, but she wasn’t carrying any laundry in the video.
Coburn was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where she was booked on charges of Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief.
