Daniel P. Turcotte is still on the run. Both Brevard County and Indian River County have issued warrants for his arrest.
Turcotte contacted Sebastian Daily on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, regarding our previous article about his Indian River County warrant.
“This is now a civil case, and my lawyer was in court on the 15th. If you continue this, I will sue you for slander. Take it down. And remember, life can change with a phone call. It happened to me,” Turcotte told Sebastian Daily.
“I am at the sheriff’s department now, with my lawyer. What you have done here is nasty,” Turcotte said.
We then contacted the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to verify Turcotte’s story, but they said the warrant was still active. We then found out through the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office that Turcotte also has a warrant with them.
The two warrants in both counties are for “Failure to Appear” on the felony charges.
When we informed Turcotte of the warrants, he said the press had old warrant information that wasn’t updated.
In December 2017, Turcotte was arrested in Sebastian on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The charge was later dropped.
Turcotte was arrested again in September 2019 at his home in Barefoot Bay after he pointed a loaded gun at his girlfriend. She fled the home, and a few minutes later, Turcotte sent a text with several threats with a picture of a firearm if she called law enforcement, deputies said.
Turcotte was then arrested on October 25, 2019, after Brevard County deputies found two stolen guns at his home in Barefoot Bay. He was charged with two counts of Felony Grand Theft of a Firearm.
The guns were owned by a roommate staying with Turcotte when he lived in Sebastian in February 2018. The roommate had died, and police say Turcotte stole his two guns and other items. The guns went missing until they were found during Turcotte’s arrest in Barefoot Bay.
Turcotte is no stranger to Sebastian, Barefoot Bay, and Fellsmere. He runs the Treasure Art Life Community Bike Program that rebuilds bicycles for children and people in need.
So far, he has vanished, although some people claim he’s still in the Sebastian area living out of a pickup truck.
Dan Turcotte has recently been using the Facebook name Dan Grey and Daniel Morse where he claims to be on the road to Arizona and Tennessee.
“I have 50.00 and 1600 miles to go, anyone want to help,” Turcotte wrote with a link to his PayPal account on Facebook.
