VERO BEACH – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to a retail theft at Walmart in Vero Beach about a man stealing nine cans of “Dust-Off” air and sniffing them in the parking lot.
Dennis Kieran Flynn, 35, was seen entering the Vero Beach Walmart through the Grocery Doors and proceeded directly to the Electronics Department.
Once there, he selected a 2-pack of “Dust Off” compressed air and immediately concealed the merchandise down the front of his pants.
Video surveillance showed Flynn walking outside to the parking lot and sniffing the cans near the bushes.
A customer first made the report to Walmart management of a man “paint huffing” in the parking lot.
Deputies inspected the area and found nine cans of “Dust-Off” air, and the plastic wrapping left where Flynn was standing.
Authorities believe that Flynn had previously taken more product and sniffed the cans at an earlier date.
There is video surveillance showing the suspect stealing the merchandise on two separate days.
Flynn was later located at his home in Vero Beach.
He was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with retail theft.
