VERO BEACH – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance at a Vero Beach home between a male and female.
As deputies approached the home, they could hear the victim and the suspect, identified as George Cobas, 60, yelling at each other. The victim was outside, and Cobas was inside the house.
Cobas told the victim he was going to tell the cops that she hit him with a hammer. The victim yelled back and said she was going to tell police how he “dragged me out of the house and scraped my arm,” the report said.
The victim told deputies that the two were arguing over a movie. She went into their bedroom to watch a movie and Cobas remained in the living room.
The problem started when Cobas entered the bedroom and laid down on the bed. The victim then grabbed a blanket and went to the living room to get away from him.
Cobas became angry and pulled the victim off the couch by grabbing her feet and “dragged her outside the house through the front door.” He then locked her outside.
Deputies observed a scrape to the victim’s right elbow from being dragged. She said the two have lived together for three years.
Cobas told deputies that “he is tired” and wants her out of the house. He admitted to dragging her out of the home and refused to let the victim back inside.
Cobas stated that it all started over a movie, but he would not elaborate. He was arrested and booked on charges of Battery Domestic Violence.
