Daniel P. Turcotte, 48, was arrested last October in Barefoot Bay after stealing two guns from a dead roommate in Sebastian. Turcotte was charged with two counts of Grand Theft of a Firearm, which are felonies.

However, Indian River County judge Dan Vaughn issued an arrest warrant for Turcotte after he missed his court date on January 15, 2020.

In February 2018, Turcotte was living with Brandon Milligan in Sebastian when the firearms went missing. Turcotte told police Milligan was going through a divorce at the time.

Turcotte notified Milligan’s wife of her estranged husband’s death. The wife then found several items missing in the home, including three firearms.

The wife believes that Turcotte stole the guns, the report said.

When questioned by police, Turcotte denied having any guns in his possession.

In December 2017, Turcotte was arrested in Sebastian on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The charge was later dropped.

On September 15, 2019, Turcotte was arrested at his residence in Barefoot Bay after pointing a gun at his girlfriend. Two days later, two firearms were found inside the home that matched the serial numbers of those missing from Milligan’s home.

“When questioned about the stolen guns, his story changed several times. First, he stated he did not have the guns. He then stated they were found in his vehicle the night Brandon died, and he later placed them into a trash can. The last thing he admitted to was taking the guns out of the house to protect Brandon from shooting himself,” detectives said.

Turcotte runs the Treasure Art Life Community Bike Program that rebuilds bicycles for children and people in need. Turcotte has donated over 360 bicycles to adults and kids.
