SEBASTIAN – Police responded to a domestic disturbance after a woman said her boyfriend allegedly became aggressive when she spent money to buy makeup instead of a ham for Thanksgiving.
The woman said she got into an argument with her boyfriend, identified as Fredrick Holmes Jr., because she bought makeup. She said her boyfriend wanted to buy a ham for a Thanksgiving dinner to share with his mother, according to the report.
The girlfriend said Fredrick became “more agitated and aggressive” before accusing him of “placing his right hand over her mouth and his left hand on the back of her neck forcefully.”
Fredrick allegedly asked her to be quiet so the neighbors could not hear them arguing, the report said.
Police asked the girlfriend if she needed EMS, but insisted she “would drive herself to Sebastian Medical Center.” She complained about her right jaw, stating that it “popped” during the altercation.
Fredrick had left before police arrived at the scene, but returned a few minutes later after going to a store.
Police questioned Fredrick about the incident, and his statement was consistent with his girlfriend’s. But he denied touching her.
“Look at me, if I touched her it would be obvious,” Fredrick told the officer. “I know better than to put my hands on a woman.”
The officer felt there was enough evidence to charge Fredrick with Misdemeanor Battery Domestic Violence.
Fredrick was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail.
