SEBASTIAN – A 44-year-old man was arrested after he threw a shotgun round of ammunition at someone while holding a 12-gauge shotgun and stated the next round would be for them, according to the Sebastian Police Department.

Daniel P. Turcotte, of Sebastian, was in an argument with his girlfriend’s mother Wednesday night at approximately 6:00 p.m. over a TV program, the report said.

Turcotte had been consuming alcohol, and the victim believed that is why he became so agitated. He threw a round of ammunition at her while holding a 12-gauge shotgun in this hands, and told her the next round was going to kill her, according to the arrest affidavit.

“He then stated he was going to kill her as he racked the shotgun,” the officer said.

The victim immediately contacted law enforcement, at which time he placed the shotgun down and walked out of the residence.

Moments later, Turcotte’s mother responded and removed the shotgun from the residence upon the girlfriend’s request.

Police then spoke with the girlfriend who advised she was present during the incident, and her statement matched her mother’s. She said her boyfriend held the shotgun and told her mother he was going to kill her, according to the report.

Officers then made contact with Turcotte at his mother’s house. He stated there was a verbal argument between him and his girlfriend’s mother, but all he did was throw a shotgun shell at her.

“He stated he told her she should kill herself due to the fact she used and was addicted to methamphetamine,” the officer stated.

Turcotte said he owned a shotgun, but that it was at his mother’s house.

The mother told law enforcement that she received a phone call from the girlfriend asking her to remove the shotgun from their home.

Turcotte was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Indian River County Jail.
