Vero Beach – Indian River County Sheriff deputies found a naked man inside a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Walgreens Store in Vero Beach.

The incident occurred at 3:02 a.m. as police became suspicious about the vehicle after it pulled into the parking lot. As the deputy approached the pickup truck, he observed a white male completely naked with an erection being held by his left hand.

The suspect was identified as 54-year-old James Joseph Lewis of Micco, Florida. The driver began to scramble in the vehicle near the center cup holder. The deputy demanded Lewis to show his hands by placing them on the steering wheel.

As the deputy escorted the naked man to his patrol car, Lewis said, “man, you might find a crack pipe there.” The deputy found a glass crack pipe as well as three small white rocks laying next to it. The substance tested positive for cocaine.

The deputy found Lewis’ drivers license in a pair of shorts on the floorboard of the truck and it came back suspended. The officer questioned him about the suspension, and he stated, “yes I know it is but I have to drive you know.”

Lewis was booked on charges of misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia, driving while licensed was revoked, and felony possession of cocaine. He is currently being held on a $6,000 bond at the Indian River County Jail.
