VERO BEACH – The Vero Beach Police Department received a call from 7-Eleven employees about an intoxicated man shouting obscenities at customers.

Arriving officers met with the suspect, John Houghton, 48, who was consuming a large “Natty Ice” beer.

Police advised Houghton that the City of Vero Beach has an ordinance for no open containers and he advised “I know, I don’t fu****** care,” according to the report.

Houghton told police that he called one woman a “bit**” because she wouldn’t give him any money at the 7-Eleven.

Police retrieved the beer can from Houghton and arrested him for disorderly intoxication and for the open container.

Houghton is still at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
