VERO BEACH – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance at an apartment near the 1100 block of 6th Avenue in Vero Beach.

The victim told deputies that she was playing darts with her live in boyfriend, identified as 36-year-old Sean Michael Cox, when they were in a verbal altercation that turned physical.

The girlfriend stated that Cox pulled her outside by her shirt from their Vero Beach apartment as two witnesses were present.

Once outside in front of the apartment, Cox told the victim he was breaking up with her and threw his drink in her face and then delivered an open hand slap to the left side of her head, according to the report.

“The victim was very shaken due to previous incidents of domestic violence and is scared of the defendant,” a deputy said in the report.

Deputies then made contact with Cox who stated he threw a drink in the victim’s face while breaking up with her.

Cox was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with Battery Domestic Violence.
