VERO BEACH – A man who was stopped by Vero Beach Police for an inoperable tag light was arrested for DUI after the officer had discovered he was under the influence with an open 16 oz. Pabst Blue Ribbon beer between his legs.

Adhamb Merritt, 25, was traveling approximately 10 mph under the posted speed limit with a missing tag light. The officer also noticed after the stop that Merritt didn’t have his seat belt on.

Merritt smelled of an alcohol beverage once he was stopped, and that’s when the officer noticed a 16 oz Pabst Blue Ribbon blue sitting between his legs.

When asked how much he had to drink, Merritt said, “five beers,” the report said.

After consenting to field sobriety tests, the Vero Beach officer believed Merritt was under the influence of alcohol and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Merritt was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with DUI.
