VERO BEACH – The Walmart store in Vero Beach called law enforcement after they asked a man to leave several times and found him sleeping in the infant department, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Jeremy Michael Avant, of Sebastian, was asked to leave the store after he was found sleeping.
Several employees told Avant he needed to leave the business in which he got up off the floor and went towards the bakery, according to the arrest affidavit.
“When walking towards the bakery, Avant began to stumble and fell on the floor face first and just continued to lie there and fell asleep,” the deputy said.
A deputy found Avant sleeping on the floor and tried to wake him up. He seemed to be very disoriented and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.
When asked how much he had to drink, Avant told the deputy he only had a beer. He had difficulty answering questions and was unable to hold a full conversation.
Avant, 37, was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail for trespassing and disorderly intoxication.
On Jan. 3, Avant was arrested for disorderly intoxication after he was urinating outside near the Bealls department store in Vero Beach.
In late December, Avant was arrested for disorderly intoxication after he pulled his pants down inside a senior living facility in Vero Beach.
